Its got to be those rounded body panels that reflect the color so differently. I've noticed my current 49 appears to be a different shade of the same color of blue if the sun shines or doesn't shine on it as well. Didn't intend to hijack this thread.

    Vacuum leak

I watched a "mechanic" replace intake manifold gaskets a few years ago. The guy clean up the gasket surface with one of those 3M roto discs on a 90 degree grinder! He was so impressed that the surface came out so shinny. I suggested that maybe he would want to put a bit of sealer on the intake...

New life for the '30 Chevy

I guess how much head clearance you have could impact something hanging from the roof. But it could just be me. I can somehow manage to bang my head on anything with in 6' of my head. Its a special skill I have...

All 3 pictures were taken the same day. The way the light hit it changed the shade of the custom mixed implement paint. The center picture is the correct shade. These are the only pictures I have left of the truck from when I sold it nearly 20 years ago.

    New builder questions

There quite a few builds posted on this site. It might be worth looking into several of them. It will give you a picture of what is involved, and maybe some great ideas. Buying a project someone has given up on, or grown tired of, or maybe has encountered health problems that will prevent its...

that old clock would sure cover that hole in the dash nicely.

    Vacuum leak

Years ago I started putting a thin layer of form a gasket around the intake ports and water ports on both sides of all the intakes gaskets I have installed. Don't need but a thin coat, but it sure solved a lot of leaks. I don't believe the gaskets are as good as they used to be either. The old...

    1959 GMC Fleetside

Years ago I built a 54 Dodge pickup. I built it with a front subframe with independent suspension, lowered the rear suspension by moving and replacing the leaf springs and shackles, then I cut the firewall, installed a V8, installed a modern 60/40 split bench seat with a fold down arm rest and 3...

New to rat rods and hot rods

Welcome to the site. I agree with smallfoot. Start with something that isn't too hard so you can drive it pretty quickly. Get to know some people, and get more involved with the hobby. Hanging with a group of new friends can help you determine the path to go, if you are not sure. Then, I...

For Sale 48 Plymouth business coupe looks like an old dirt track car)

The bottom 6" of the body where it originally curved outward was cut off the passenger side of the car, and was rotted to almost nothing on the driver side. Rather then try to hand form the replacement sheet metal to match the missing original tin, I just opted to make the new bottom straight...

My Tupelo bad luck hasn't changed

It almost sounds like you are not suppose to go to that show at all. We have a couple shows around here that seem to work out that way as well. Something always seems to come up about a day before those shows that prevents us from going. We have arrived at the conclusion we are suppose to quite...

For Sale 48 Plymouth business coupe looks like an old dirt track car)

I built the car , first driven in 2012. Any parts that were still good and I didn't use (not many, the car was pretty much just a shell), were sold or given away a very lone time ago. There is a built thread on the car on this site titled (My 49 Plymouth coupe build). Have no idea how didn't...
