Coolant lines on intake maifold?

This was in an ad on CL for some HP engine parts. Got me curious.
What is the purpose of these lines?https://images.craigslist.org/00N0N_...H_1200x900.jpg

It balances the flow of coolant from the back of the engine to the front and helps eliminate air pockets too. It actually works rather well.

Normally the rear port is just capped off, this is why it's important to get the gaskets on the right direction. :)
Curious how those hoses do for the center cylinders and if it rushes the water before it absorbs the heat?

I've ran this setup for the past 20 years and it has severed my engines well.

Thanks. I suspected it was something of that nature.
