Anyone else remember Bob's cartoons? :)

Thanks for the mention, E-Man. Now my 10 year old grandson Matthew is doing real cartoons.

It's past bedtime but I can't sleep.
I'm too excited about a heap.

Of metal in a pile waiting for me.
To cut and weld with so much glee.

This project cannot be a failure.
In six weeks I'll need this trailer.

Off we'll go to the nostalgia drags.
Dragster is ready, just have to pack my bags.

The strip is called Union Grove.
It will be a treasure trove.

Of gassers, alterds, and some diggers.
I hope we run some pretty good figures.

But it really doesn't matter how we run.
Just three old guys having fun.

Dave will drive and I will tune.
Come on out the middle of June.

Goodbye My Beautiful Girl May 20, 2021

Lily

For ten years Lily has been my girl.
From frisky little fur ball
To a loving beautiful lady.
Every morning and every afternoon
We walked the neighborhood
Along with Sam and Gracie.
Three Poodles and Me.
We love them all but Lily was special to me.
She needed lots of love and I was happy to give it.
She gave me so much more.
The sky was dark and rainy
when I took her to the Vet.
Because for a few days she wasn't "quite right".
She spent yesterday on an IV for a tick infection.
Lily wasn't getting better.
An X-ray showed why.
"C".
I held her curly brown head in my arms,
With her all knowing eyes looking at me,
As Doctor Bray put something into her IV
And she crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
To a beautiful place where dogs live forever and suffer no pain.

So sorry for your loss, Bob. We had to do that with our oldest dog in February. She was a month from being 16. No matter how many times you do it, it never gets easier.

Sure wish I could come out! But with the border closed and Manitoba hitting record high numbers of Covid infections it becomes impossible. Maybe by next year they will figure out how to control this. Sure wish they would hurry up with the second round of immunizations. :(

Sorry to hear about Lily. Sometimes losing a pet is harder than losing a person.

My condolences on the loss of Lilly Bob! They love to be loved and I always say I get as much out of petting my dogs as they do. I lost my Buddy the last day of July 2020. He was my hotrod dog...

Darn Smalls, you made my eyes puddle up again. Every morning we would take the dogs for a ride. Lily would bark at everyone. Very irritating. Now, it's too quiet.

Thank you to everyone that sent out good wishes.

I believe all three winners of the poetry contest received their rewards. Good going fellas.

Did you ever sit down to write a poem?
And your brain says, "I'm not at home".
But you gotta do it anyway.
Just to end another day.
Thinking about friends on the internet.
Friends you have never met.
Friends from everywhere but Mars.
All with an interest in old cars.
We gather at this marvelous site.
That Tripper has designed just right.
To talk and laugh and share and care.
About each other and how we fare.
Building hot rods is our aim.
They're all different none the same.
Rat rods, customs, trucks, a Jeep.
Make something special out of a heap.
We all think we're big and tough.
But things happen that make life rough.
When one of us is really hurtin'.
The rest will support, that's for certain.
I think the good Doctor is needing us now.
Prayers and good wishes, this I vow.
To get Dr. C hale and hearty.
Because he is the life of our party.
We love ya Doc. and when you are able.
Return to your seat at the head of the table.
