Got this cowl a couple years ago. Picked up 5 doors along the way. The two best ones are shown. Hard to get good Chevy stuff. Too much wood. Started on it today by cleaning all the unneeded stuff off the cowl, gutting the doors and hanging them on the cowl. Looks like the doors need some straightening and some new metal. That's for tomorrow.

The slant 6 and overdrive 4 speed out of my dragster will be the driveline for this project.

One Door Done. No, that's not a Chinese name. Couldn't get to the other one cuz I ran errands. Made nine stops today. A little visiting here. A little visiting there... Tomorrow I'm going up north to pick up something old and rusty. It'll be my last project, honest.

Field Trip

I mentioned I was going to pick up a new (old) toy today. Took the 150 mile trip to Brainerd, MN to Rufus Ranch. I got the grand tour from Tony, the son of the owner Wow! What a massive collection of mainly Model A's. Here's just a small part of what is there. I couldn't take pics inside the buildings because it was too dark.

Everything outside is for sale. Not cheap, but fair.

I got both door bottoms repaired. The passenger door was pretty bent up so I had to beat on it quite a bit.

Door looks great, amazed at how fast you did it. How did you finish the bottom edge?

I cut the patch panel 1 1/4" longer than the distance from the cut line in the original door skin to the bottom door plate (14 ga.). Then folded the bottom edge over 1/2". Welded the patch panel to the bottom door plate and the folded over portion extends below the door plate.

Trimmed the sides and folded them over the side frames just like the original door skin.
