A little update:

Some of you might recall this hot mess...

Now we have the frame upside down, the reason for the above butchery is clear... the crossmember suffers from an advanced case of "Torchie's Syndrome". ;)

For comparison, this is my unmolested front crossmember. The yellow arrows indicate the front motor mount locations... the white arrow indicates the the radiator/shell/fender/hood support...

attachment.php

Obviously, the crossmember was whittled down to accommodate the Mustang II transplant/disaster... anyhow, the rotten turd needs to board a vessel to the nearest smelt...

Moving forward... we removed the turd along with the bottom frame plates, which were also quite rotten and thin...

New bottom plates and new rad support fit and welded... simple, but effective...

You're a welding savant, Dr. c.

Idiot savant! ;)

Can't tie a shoe lace but boy can he weld....

Idiot savant again... when I'm on the mark, I'm as good as I ever was... when I'm not, your line definitely applies... "Looks like a turd trying to crawl in a ditch." Ha! [cl

Nice looking beads there Doc!

Back at ya, Bill! I've admired your work as well!

Torchie: Our crusty crossmember looks much like your crusty frame. "Torchie's Syndrome", believe it or not, is respectfully pointed at you and the ravages of northern climes. :(

Reading back a little to see where I left off...

Looks great Dr. C. It's amazing how much welding there is on a chassis.[;) Hope you didn't catch your hair on fire.:D

My hair's been on fire so many times I can't believe I have any left!

Today, we performed a few more flips and finished the frame welding... at long last!

The bare tube at the rear will (eventually) serve to mount the shocks... we haven't fingered that out yet...

attachment.php

At this point, we're going to put the frame aside and work on the body. (Space restraints dictate.)

Next, we'll cobble a body dolly and deal with its issues...
