Have I got this right, Torchie, the outside clear tube is painted on the inside to make the wheel perimeter look like you painted twenty seven coats of clear over the colour paint. Really Cool, ----- unless I've guessed wrong and put you up on an 'inventor' pedestal for no real reason.

You are correct, Mac.
I poured paint inside the the large tube.
After i drained it and the paint dried i split the tube and put ot over the smaller tubing on the the wheel.
I will use some SS wire ties around each side of the spokes to help keep it together as well as adding a bit of splash.lol
Now if i could only find my metal tie cinching/ cutoff tool.
I am happy with the results for my first try.
Like i said i feel it fits the build vision ( what ever that seems to be on any given day.)
Torchie
I can refine it more if i need to.

When i first started messing with this i used some acrylic craft paint that Mrs T had. dutch.
For this version I used some gloss Grey enamel that i had. Trying not to spend any money. Lol
The acrylic dried much faster. I suspect you could use Just about any paint.

I was thinking it might crack loose from the tube when installing if it is a hard paint I like to rob Mrs. D for materials too...

Once the tube is on the wheel I don’t expect it to crack.
I think that when the paint is still fresh nothing is going to Flake off.
I could have waited a bit longer , dutch. The paint was still a little tacky.😳
It worked out anyways.

Being a bit tacky might help keep it from slipping.

I'd have never thought of doing that.

I expect it will. Bama.
The tube on tube prior to the paint had no slipping around at all.
