Default Rear for '47-54 Chevy truck?

Is there a drop in differential for these trucks? One that will not require a plethora of mods to work?

S10. Good stock for up to about 400 hp. PU are a bit narrower than the Blazers. You may have to make mini-tubs in the bed sides, depending on tire width and setback.

Ranger gets you disc brakes. Not sure about width.

The thing about a '39 Ford pick-up is that that ugly grille kinda' grows on ya' after a while.

Not taking anything too seriously.

Here's a good reference for rear end widths!

The 2WD S10 rear is too narrow, it needs to be a 4WD for proper width. The added bonus to the 4WD is they are usually a decent gearset and limited slip. 2nd Gen Camaro/Firebird are also a near perfect fit.

Seems like this question was answered in 2012...
