Here's a short recap of my Hot Rod Power Tour trip.

My group consisted of four vehicles, My 46 Rat Rod truck with a 460 Ford, my buddies 49 Chevy truck with a 5.3/S-10 swap, his Dad with his 70 Chevelle and a small block and another friend with a 2012 Challenger SRT8 with the rare Yellow Jacket edition.

We spent 1 1/2 days getting to New Orleans. It wasn't our first stop, but most of hadn't been to Bourbon St. before.

Louisiana roads were interesting as it was a lot of the four lanes were miles and miles of bridges through/over the swamps/lowland waters.

First stop of the tour was Gonzales, La.
It down poured a few times but overall decent first day.
Met Vic Edelbrock and he signed a cap for me.
It was Hot!

Second day was Houston.
We took the scenic route by way of the Gulf of Mexico.
We just got to the event and got our cards punched before a monsoon hit.
It took about 40 minutes to get back to the hotel. I have no wipers and defroster. I had Rain-X, but its not much help under 60 mph and I couldn't go over 40. The spray from other drivers was pretty bad.
Last rain for the trip.

Day three went to Austin, TX
We took a group pic in Houston in front of the Space Shuttle Independence before leaving town. Things are already a blur, but I think we went to a race track for the event.
A few of us got our picture taken with Top Gear Host Rutledge Wood.
It was Hot!

Day 4 to Arlington, TX
I think this was a Casino parking lot.
I found a shady spot near the dyno and spent my afternoon there.
Sitting next to us were some Canadians doing the long haul too.
No big kabooms, but fun none the less.
Almost forgot... It was Hot!

Day 5 to OK City, OK
We left about 7:30-8:00 in two groups and the event was at a facility with some shaded building spots. Most of us had bought the VIP registrations that got the shaded or better spots for an extra $200, but it was only better a few locations like this.
Got a picture with David Freiburger of Roadkill.
It was Hot!

Day 6 Wichita, KS
It has been so Hot that I talked one of our other cars into leaving at 6:00 A.M. That helped on traffic and the heat some. We got to the event a little early and had to wait on the interstate about 10 minutes before they would let us in. We found a nice spot under a shade tree with our chairs and watched cars coming in and out for hours.
It was still Hot!

Day 7 to Kansas Speedway
We left at 8:10 after fuel and a few burnouts at the gas station.
I rode in the 49. My two friends took the Rat. We did other trading along the way. First friend is about 6', but after 40 mils he trade off for the next friend who is a 6'8" Ford guy and the one lady on the trip. I knew the 6'8" fellow fit in the passenger side, but it surprised me we when did well driving it too.
We were happy to make the Long Haul!
We went to watch the burnout contest where Roadkill filled their pickup bed with a tarp and water to watch from.
There was no shade it guess what, It was Hot!
A few hours later we were back in Des Moines.

Pictures in random order because I'm lazy...

This was GM fix-it truck for all. I didn't need it because I drive a Ford. At least ford powered anyway...lol

Glad ya a fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We ran a partial 2004 and 2008 gonna run the long haul 2017 Power Tour

Glad you guys liked the pics.

I did a partial Power Tour last year. From Des Moines, to Madison, WI, Champaign, IL, St Louis and back to Des Moines. Good time to test as I was never more than 6 hrs from home.

Next year it should start in KC. If it heads North, I will probably do a few days again then too.
