Vintage Dixco Tach Install

Ive got a Dixco Tachometer that Im wanting to add to a 1950s style slingshot dragster that Im building but it only has 3 wires, black, white and green. I have determined that the green is -coil, white is for the light and black is ground, but no red for battery+ ???

Well even though the black acted as a ground and the white is the + light which allowed the backlight to work I just came across this, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/dixco-tach-wiring.685722/
