maybe some garage time and a new project would help. keep ya busy and give ya a goal to keep the spirits up.

dry & cold here, 14 degrees low & high of 35 degrees here today so l took the truck for a drive to help my attitude, l figured l better do it now because snow is predicted for the week-end.

hope you feel better and it warms up soon,

Later

I tried working in the shop but its hard to get up to decent temp most days. It's insulated we'll but when the actual temps are below zero it takes so much to heat it that it's not practical. I had my wood stove going and salamander heater going for about four hours and only got it up to 35 degrees.

I am getting ready to head to work this morning an it is 22 below zero. I am also looking forward to spring. Dang global warming anyway!

We're well into month 5 of the crap and no relief in sight.
Don, I'm coming to your house for the winter next year. Can I trade a load of truck cabs for rent?

Sure bring the cabs, I'll even toss in some beer ! :D

You guys are really getting hit hard this year. Sure glad they changed the term from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change." What a hard, long winter this has been for so much of the country.

Don

Yes, a long, cold winter. Fortunately, I have some fun projects going. My house and garage are made from 1 foot thick styrofoam and I've kept the garage heated full time. It is pretty expensive but lots cheaper than sitting in a casino. By keeping the heat on full time, I maintain 65 degrees and the floor stays reasonably warm.

There's nothing I'd rather do than build hot rods and as long as I can do that, I don't care too much what it is like outdoors.

I agree. My shop has no heat and a crappy bent up fiberglass door with bad or no seals. Every summer I say I'm going to invest in a new one but this year for sure. And maybe a hanging furnace but that $4 propane is a killer. If I have to set around another winter like this, I'll go nutso for sure.
Still, we haven't had it as bad as some areas, should feel grateful (but I don't,bah).

My house and garage are made from 1 foot thick styrofoam ...

That sounds kinda flimsy but warm. My garage (well, my wife's garage) is warm enough, but I'm still having trouble getting excited about getting out there to do anything this year. Maybe because I usually need a tool or two from the shed that always has a 3 foot drift in front of it?

i seen that super thick wood ,foam, wood sandwich and always thought it looked like a great idea

Usually our winter temps are in the 50's days, and 30's nights. This year, 30's days and nights in low 20's and lower. I have already burned more propane in 3 months than I did all last winter.
All my work is done in an open on two sides carport, so no, I haven't got crap done. Just too cold to mess with anything. I'm about 3 months behind, the way I figure it......

I suffered many years with no heat or insulation... pure misery and in those times, murder/suicide made perfect sense.

It was my dream to have a year-round shop and the dream finally came true 8 years ago. Its' nothing to jump up and down about, but it's warm and I couldn't be happier. My wife and kids enjoy the peace as much as I enjoy my hovel and my murderous intentions have subsided.

I don't care too much what it is like outdoors.

Me neither, not now anyhow. Winter is for building and I embrace it! :D

I'm sick of winter too! Lol
My shop consists of the driveway. It was 10° in the shop today with a small north wind and foot deep snow drifts. My daily truck decided to misfire and I still haven't figured out why. After today's weather yesterday's 26° felt reasonable! It actually wasn't that bad when you dress in layers. Come on spring!

Well I normally love the cold out doors but I'm officially over it. I went out to clear a few drive ways this evening. On my way back home I had a lady start to slide out in front of me. I hit the ditch to avoid her. Jack knived the trailer bending the crap out of the hitch on the trailer and tweaking the entire truck.

It was the most expensive $100 I've ever made.

I'm starting to feel like the Jack Nicholson character in The Shining.

That's who you reminded me of when we met!!! Couldn't put my finger on it at the time. [ddd

My feet must be made of stone. It was a high of 5˚ today but the windchill never got above -10˚. My boots never dried out from the day before so my socks were instantly soaked. 8 Hours outside and my feet still never got cold. I'm going to try walking around barefoot in the snow and see if it bothers me. Gonna wait until it warms up to about 30˚ though - doing it right now would be crazy.

Yeah, you don't need those toes anyway!:D

I'm in agreement....

Officially I am SICK of snow..... Thank God for my little John Deere Garden Tractor with the blower on it...I can actually cut a path from the barn to the back deck area so I can walk out without having to go knee deep in snow...now if I could figure where I'm gonna put any more snow that falls...cause it's about higher than the blower will throw it......:(
