I have done some searching, but to no avail? So here is my question. Is there a trick to getting the speedo/gauge cluster out of a 1957 chevy 3100? It seems like there is a metal lip all the way around that keeps it from coming out more than a half inch or so.

I struggled with this on my first vehicle, a 55 Chev pu long long ago. The gauge pod is made up of a rear panel and the front chrome bezel and the rear panel has a lip that sticks out all round just enough to catch on the opening in the dash. You need to get behind it with a thin screwdriver to pry lightly around the edges between that lip and the dash opening while pushing it out - it will suddenly come free. They usually go back in easier...
