I found this site today and just had to join. I find rat rod's the sickest way for a car to look. My 50' Plymouth is plain but I have plans to drop the rear down and put custom bag system in but no four link cut leafs until only the last one remains. I am planning on leaving my inline 6 Flathead in it for simplicity eventually I want to get a 392 hemi but that's down the road. It will be low and slow but once I put a t5 in it that should keep the engine from blowing up from reving to high. Look forward to posting pictures of my progress and chatting with like minded people who think out of the box.

Welcome to the site. I bent my rear leaf springs with just the torque of my wimpy little motor. It was a stack. Seems like a single leaf may be a little weak. If you use it as a link you will need something else to keep the axle from rolling. But keep thinking out of the box. Thats the way it is done around here.

What BoneHead says is true, but you can cut the back halves off and use two or three in the front sort as a sort of torque arm and that would help!!
BTW Welcome to RRR!!!

Yeah I have talked to a few guys about the leafs and and did mention leaving all the front side's on and another guy said leave 2 instead of one also a custom panhard bar would help too I think. I have visions of my car but my finance not so much roflmao she just raises her eye brow like what  .I just got a battery for it and it's a 12 v cars 6 v positive ground I am switching to 12 v negative I fabricated the alternator to fit my original brackets which was so simple that I had guys saying no you don't want to do that cause I cut a notch out of it which yes makes taking it back impossible oh well it was 50 bucks and it work's fine. I got pictures and also a video of motor running with the alternator in place of generator just can't figure out how to post them on here yet

If you don't have the missing chrome piece on the front, remove the other side to balance it until you find the missing one.

Oh yeah...chop it about 6"!:D

IMG_20101025_120802.jpgYeah I don't have the other piece. I need to have all my pot metal redone but scotchbrited so it's not to shiny but I could have it powder coated chrome which looks flat. One thing my wheel covers got to go there to much I am thinking painting them green flake and I have also thought about putting a flame job on but white yellow to green not the typical flames cause everyone and their brother has them. I am thinking flat black for the main color and to tie inside to outside the dash white with green pinstripe around the gauges and stuff carpet black the seats white with green piping and black inserts but these are dreams so far until tax time I hope ... :D here are some more pic's

Well I went to the bomber bash and had a blast watching the stunt and burnout show the dukes of hazard charger took the show with it's drift slide burnout he won the trophy coming right off the street. The leather necks and paddy's were there as well. There had to be 80 cars or more and 40 or more bikes. Got a mirror for my car at the swap for a buck can't beat that. One piece at a time they say is the way it gets done

Well it's ripped up right now and I got a huge hole in the floor on the driver side and I got to mount my seats and put in new carpet when done dash will have new gauges. I got a long way to go before I am done lolIMG_20101108_134018.jpg

I have been kickin around the idea of putting my shell on an s-10 long bed frame from 82-89 version and keep the s10 motor in it or put a 305 beefed up to a 331. I have the 305 in a 92 caprice I got for $50 I drive it everyday to work. My Flathead is cool but power wise it sucks 305 has potential. I just wanted your guys feedback on it. I know it a lot of work but I already got a lot and doing this would increase the value of the car going from old tech to new tech. Tell me your thoughts?

Well I have recently switched car to 12v negative ground charging system. Which was easier than anything I've done on cars. 4 wires and bam done lol. Got new headlights cause old one blow a second after turning car on guess they can't handle 14.4v from alternator lol. I noticed my back lights work but only with brake on not with lights on... got me thinking that they need another bulb hooked to switch that comes on dimmer then when I push on brakes the old bulb goes brighter. Also new bulb can have flasher added. Well here's some pictures
