I found out that I'm missing the two center running board brackets, so instead of buying I made them up.

Nice. What does the hidden part look like?

I patterned them after the rears - so much so that I made them exactly the same before I realized that they are three different lengths!!! So, that explains the extra weld in the middle of the ones I made....
The paint is still wet, but they will be semi gloss once dry. First coat yesterday was with the DOM product, then a quick coat of rattle can semi gloss today.

Nice work. Thanks for sharing. I need to create a couple for my 39, but I have nothing to pattern them from. Plus with the S10 frame, its totally guess work. I wish I had room for a lift. :(

Thanks again everyone. Your encouragement is appreciated! This is so much fun I'm surprised it's not illegal. LOL. A driveshaft and fuel tank/pump kit is ordered, so I'm just waiting on them to arrive. I need to get the fuel line run and mufflers hung so that I can install the cab. I just finished up the front brakes and hoses, but again I need the cab installed before I can complete the brake lines. I pulled the doors off to install new weather stripping, and am working away on the window rubbers and felts, about to install the headliner, etc. Here's a few pics of progress.

looks perfect! I wish I would install the door seals with the doors off but my problem is: if the cab didnt have doors I want to make them fit and latch without seals getting in the way, and if the cab does have doors the last thing I want to do is take them off haha

Thanks guys.

JD - regarding the door alignment. I had intended to leave the doors on, as they were aligned so well. I even painted them on the inside on the truck. When I watched the videos on installing the weatherstrip, it was highly recommended that I remove them. I had one hell of a time getting the hinges out of the door pockets! I don't think they've EVER been off. I did leave the hinges in the door posts on the cab, but drilled the door pocket before removing the door for a small dowel. Hopefully I can insert the dowel back into the hole before tightening the bolts. That's the plan anyway. I'll let you know if it works!
Dozer - yeah, it looks a bit intimidating but I've looked through it and everything has a home, so fingers crossed! This is uncharted territory for me for sure.

Making a little progress. Picked up some odds and ends in the city yesterday when I was out for a retirement breakfast. The power steering hoses and driveshaft are in so I'll pick them up tomorrow. I quickly made up a crossmember for the very back of the frame today. I need to remove the stock one to make room for the gas tank, so before I carved it out I made up this one.
