I got the front end connected to the frame. Could have just used a couple pieces of 2x4 tube but I wanted it to look a little smoother, sort of factory made. Top and bottom sides are 1/4" x 2" flat bar, side plates are 3/16". All the ends are staggered to tie it more solidly together plus there are joining pieces welded inside the rails. Buncha welding and grinding later, it's all together.

That frame looks awesome! The way you did it looks so much better than it would have just using tubing, and shows the attention to detail you put into your builds!

If I worked half as fast as you do I could get so much more done!
 
Thanks everyone, I'm just powering into it to get as much done as I can before the winter shut-down.
Introduced the engine/tranny to its new home. No major work to the firewall, just had to cut out and center the cutout a bit. Basic 2x2 crossmember with mount pedestals made from cut down pieces of 2x2. Now I can finish the X member in the middle of the frame and make the tranny mount.

Nice! Glad you are going with a big block. Big gangster car like this needs the big smooth torque numbers. [P
 
That big block sits so low in there, but great choice of power!

I put is as low as possible while not hanging below the frame, trying to keep the CG low and keep the floor hump down too.

Looks more like your trying to finish before winter break :D

Lifted the body up and got to work on the K - member. I wanted to run it farther forward but the booster/pedal assy is a space hog, plus I need to run the exhaust and shifter linkage by it too, so it got shortened some. The tranny crossmember will mount to the lower tier.

After making the transmission mount and driveshaft hoops, the center frame structure is complete, body is back on. Started putting together the 1x1" subfloor structure today and got rid of some more temporary bracing. Now the engine is mounted, I realized the firewall indent is not needed, so I cut it out along with the goofy off-center lump above it. Since this car originally had a straight 8 and I've stretched the front end 5", there's plenty of room for the 454 to sit away from the firewall and still have room for the radiator.

Beautiful. but it really isn't as easy as you make it look:rolleyes: or maybe it is and I just make it difficult thinking about it and not just getting it done as you do[S great job as I have said before, gona hate wait'n for winter to be over.[dr
 
Made a panel to fill the firewall with a couple ribs to match up to the existing ones and welded it in. Also finished up the subfloor tubing framework, now I have to get back to the body and put the drivers side door together.
