It just dawned on me... would chrome spray paint bring back enough of the mirror finish to help out?

That won`t help a lot. I vote for a roll bar with a bunch of poacher lights to back up the dummy chrome paint head lights, so everyone can see where you`re going

No, the chrome spray paint won't work. Going the cheap way on something like this is just going to be a bandaid that won't work well, and will just delay doing it the right way.

Stainless steel bowl would be better than chrome paint, dog dish is about the right size
