It's baffling, 3,682 views for the poetry thread and 10 votes. There's 10 members on the site right now. Time's running out, fellas.

Voting ends tomorrow. Oil up that index finger and punch a key your favorite.

A dozen voters as of now.

It was the third of November.
A day I will always remember.

A sunny morning but I began to shiver.
Heading toward the Mississippi River.

It wasn't because it was so cold.
It was the excitement of what this quest would hold.

That sent me toward this pot of gold.
And fears that it might already be sold.

The oaks had lost their leaves.
The shafts of light, the gentle breeze.

Abandon houses and a falling down shed.
What would lie just ahead?

Bruce had told me he had a collection.
What I saw was beyond comprehension.

Bruce could be called pretty strange.
His lust for Fords only in the '32 to '34 range.

There were dozens scattered here and there.
In the sheds, in garages, in disrepair.

He spent a lifetime collecting Fords.
I have not seen many bigger hoards.

But over next to a moss covered shed.
Sitting on barrels, left for dead.

Was a little car for which he had no love.
It was the object of my affection, a gift from above.

An Anglia body and it's frame.
To let it rot would be a shame.

For the little Ford Bruce has distain.
In his collection it could not remain.

Four hundred dollars and it was mine.
I'd put it together, I'd make it fine.

For 45 years it's been my friend.
We will be together until the end.

We've been a team through thick and thin.
My sweetheart pile of English tin.

Default WINNER, WINNER, Chicken DInner!!!

Mercury Mac was voted the favorite.
Mac, PM earthman to claim your prize of a $50.00 gift certificate to Speedway.

Sam Fear took second.
Sam, look over the prizes in this thread and select one or two. Or, if you prefer $25.00 cash while U.S. currency is still worth something. Let me know. Please PM your address.

05snopro440 is the third place winner.
snowpro, since it's expensive to send packages to Canada would a $15.00 cash prize be acceptable? Please PM your address.

Thank you to all the contributors. There are over 4,000 views of the poetry thread.

I hope you all had as much fun writing and reading the poems as I did.

Even though the contest is over feel free to throw something on this thread whenever the spirit moves you.
