You did put the pushrod back in, right? I have accidently left them out :rolleyes:

Yes I did. Had to do it with a wire. The hole in the block to tighten a bolt up on the rod during pump installation didn't help me on this block. A bolt wouldn't seize the rod. Even tried to bevel the end of a bolt to see if it would go deeper.
Played with it a while. I'll check to see that the rod is right when I go back in. I don't think the pump will even bolt down if the rod isn't in the right position. But I will check. The pump is pretty new, sorta. The pump was replaced right before I parked this truck but it's been sitting for months.

I bet the diaphragm has dried out and cracked. Today's rubber and gas don't play well together.

Agreed, the new gas is horrible for old car fuel systems

Guarantee ya! Eased the pump out this am early. Rod was in right. Put the old pump in a vice to hold it and operated the lever some....nada. New pump went right in. Cranked up fine. Ran the cam in at 2000rpm for 20 minutes. No overheat. No problems really. Think the water pump may be next. Puke hole dripped a little. Needs a little tweaking on the tune. Motor sounds good!
Pool nite tonight and I'm hosting so gotta go.

A little massage for the AA

Yesterday I brought the 31 up in the front yard with intentions of cleaning it up, doing another coat of linseed oil and a new cover for the seat. I always have a dog so none of my seat covers last long. Wanted to show before and after pix to indicate what a difference a new coat makes.

Looks great indeed.😎
Thanks for the before and after pictures, Smallfoot.
I am still on the fence as to what i want to use on the Caddy.
I like the Penetrent Flood idea as it dries.
It is basically linseed oil and Naptha to make it dry.
Torchie

Torchie, if you wind up using it, all I can say is rubbing it on with a cloth is the way to go. I splash some on with a brush but use a cloth to spread and remove excess to make the drying faster. Mine isn't cut with anything. Naptha should speed it up!
