Hey, new member here. Got a project a couple weeks ago and found the website. I thought I had an original idea when I bought the truck, then I found this website and have seen a few "ratrods" from big trucks. Anyway, I appreciate the great info on the site and thought I would share some pictures.

welcome to the site! nice project....originality doesn't come from the vehicle necessarily, but from the builder...let your ideas be the focus of the build:cool::cool:

The Blastolene Brothers beat you to it many years ago. They have made a living building oversized crazy contraptions. This is their "pis'd off Pete". 12v71 Detriot Diesel with two 671 superchargers...

as a Driver with over a million, Your building my dream guy, I wanted to 360" a flattop and channel the cab and frontend, but use a secondary air bag system so you could still haul rock, but your really doing it, props man thats awsome....just imagine pulling up to a site low as a reffer rig, and then hiting the switch and raiseing ur up just about the time everyones laghin at your useless lowrider, till you drop about 45ton and set ur back down on your way out..I think I could do it with 2 million or so

Welcome to RRR

What he said! Just because someone built something similar in the past doesn't mean you can't put your own spin on it! Good luck and be sure to keep us updated. [P

Thanks guys. This site is great. Lots of info. A buddy of mine sent me a picture of the Blastolene truck a couple years ago after I told him about my idea. It kinda bummed me out, but since its not a rat I felt a little better.

The T8 is used to haul equipment around for me and my dad's business.

My plans short term are to figure out my suspension. I'm thinking quarter elliptical springs on the front thanks to this website. Going to go get the old springs de-arched tomorrow. Then try to make the grill look decent somehow.

Long term plans include a flat side old style pickup box with fuel tank inside, replacing the dayton front wheels with budd wheels, and lots of driving.

Those split front windshields and the sorta round but still square cabs look as old school as you can get. I have been trying to find a semi cab to chop down but in these parts(upstate NY) cant even find a big rig junk yard to go and look thru.

Looks awesome so far...Hopefully it wont cost you the farm to build it.

Here's a little update. Have the frame and suspension done. The grill is just sitting there not mounted. Let me know what you think.

Should have used this picture. The last one doesn't have the rear springs in and the air lines under the frame.
