Thanks fellers.
I spent all day today fighting the front end. This thing was hurt on the drivers side front and very poorly repaired. I got it with in 1/8" by cutting and patching and cheatin the other side and called it good.

It didn't make it any easier since the cab is a cut up '48 or'49 wagon, the fenders are off two other ??, the grille is off a '51 or '52 and who knows what the hood is off of.

Spring shipping....

We thought we were making a quick trip to Texas to take our feeder calves off of wheat pasture at my sons place. Little did we know that a snow storm would make it such an ordeal to accomplish it.

8" of snow with 50 mph winds and snow drifts = pick up stuck and cattle trucks unable to get to the pens. The next day we ended up driving 250 head 3 1/2 miles horse back to a different set of pens to sort and load them on trucks.

I'm too old for this crap. 4 days later we made it home.

Back to the willys

I got my radiator finally so I modified the front grille to make it fit. Supposed to have gotten a fan shroud with it but it's lost in Fed-Ex shipping some where.
Radiator is supposed to cool up to 600 hp.

So decided I'd work on the rear bumper situation. Some "CAD" work and came up with a plan that I like. More cutting and grinding to do.

Thinking about building a front bumper similar to the one in the last pic.

CAD work pics

I cut the bumper up that came on this project to recyle into this look and protect the fenders.

You probably realize this already but you just saved your butt some strain. You'll have easy access to any part of that bed and that means alot after aging some.
Good job!

Thanks to all for the interest and comments.
Skip- and more useful.
Smallfoot-I don't think I'm aging as much as I'm just flat wearing out.

I got the card board swapped out for steel today. I'm liking it.
I need to patch the holes in the center plate and do the finish welding next.
Still beatin on it.
