So scince my return some people may have been wondering what I have been up in few years I missed on the “RRR”. Well those who are also on the “ hamb” ( not sure if im allowed to say that word on here lol) may remember “ Hambandy” and for those of you who don’t know Andy was a friend of mines kid who was ill and passed on. Andy was a great kid and was a true hot rodder at heart. The Ronald McDonald house done a lot for Andy and his family during the time of his illness. So after Andy’s passing we started hosting a car show/old school drag racing in aid of the Ronald McDonald house. The first one we raised $3000 and each year it got bigger and better. Spring a head to 2016. I can’t remember who came up with, but I’m thinking it was Chris, Andy’s father. 2 weeks before the show on a Saturday we scrounged up some old junk and old truck that was used for logging and abandoned in the woods for decades and we came up with this...

The year we built this the truck raised a extra 1700, and the at the end of the day it was about 30 grand. The truck was a success.

Cool indeed!
You can say hamb here, but you can't say Rat Rod over there.[ddd
Torchie

Yeah you can Torchie, but it has to be in a derogatory way! :D
I'm like Superman in my Clark Kent clothes over there, unassuming and mostly quiet, never starting a thread, posting a bit on others, but never showing what I'm doing.

Here, the mask comes off and I'm balls to the wall letting my true self come out![ddd

Lots of history over there, and some true craftsmen, but also a lot of disgruntled opinionated aholes who only see things one way, their way! Folks here are like me, open minded, that's why here is home, over there is just visiting.....

So chapter 2 the rescue mission

A buddy of mine wanted to build a truck as well. So after a lot of searching. He found this one

We planned a trip. And we met up with some other guys who wanted to be part of the rescue mission. It wasn’t hard to get it. There was no bottom in it at all, but everything else was solid.

As you can see there’s not much left to the bottom lol we had to cut some boards to the width of the cab and run some self tappers to keep it from spreading apart.

And the long journey back to civilization

I don’t know if there’s even enough left to it to call it a truck yet lol. Any way it sat behind my buddy’s cabin for a long time.

I know lol I dragged home worse lol my model a is only good for the belt line and window openings. Roof is rotted away and pretty much door handles down lol
That sounds like that pile if junk that smallfoot kid dragged home and made an awesome ride out of. [ddd:D

Chapter 3: the plan

So my friend that we rescued the truck for, gave up on it after his father passed.
He tried to sell but no one was interested and that was that.

Me and a friend of mine were looking to put something together like we did the other year to raffle off on tickets in aid of the Ronald McDonald house. And out of the blue my friend called and said come take this cab and all the parts I gathered up and do something with it for the Ronald McDonald house.
So we’re trying to figure out what why to go about this becuase we had no motor no chassi, just a rusty cab fenders doors and hood. So. Monday night I get a message on face books a guy I know tells me he’s got a 94 s10 running with big and littles we can have for 300 bucks. By the time I’m done messaging him about the truck, the old hamster wheel is spinning. The plan was to head out after work on Wednesday drive 2 1/2 hours there grab the truck and drive 2 1/2 hours back

The end of day 1 we were happy with the way it was turning out. And as a postive it was still running driving truck. No we didn’t break out in song and dance like grease lighting lol

Wow! When you kids decide to do a good deed, you don't mess around. Hats off to the lot of you.
