The truck was a 1991 s10. I'm guessing trans was original.

....350 with a small cam (comp 252), headers, and dual plane intake

It will have components that are weaker than a V8 tranny, though it will work if you take it easy. Obviously towing and a heavy right foot will shorten its life..
It will likely have shift points that are more in tune with the V6 power characteristics and the converter will also be different - it may give a bit higher stall speed behind the V8. You might compare this to the old days of swapping a 'modern' overhead V8 into an old Ford, keeping the original 3 speed trans - it will work if you don't thrash it

All the hard parts are the same, it will have the big sprag and same clutch plate count. just more accumulation to soften the shifts and lower line pressures. put the b+m shift kit in, adjust the cable. As long as the clutches are in good shape it will work. Tobby

Does the B&M come with the 2 4 servo replacement?
