Drag Racing

I am using this thread as a catch-all for most of the stuff I'm doing. Today we were at Brainerd International Raceway, one week after the national event. Free racing for Minnesota Street Rod Assn. members. We had delays throughout the day with light rain. However, Dave did get 4 runs in with the dragster. The last run was a 11.28. a new personal record. Here's a few pics from today's activity. Dave and Jerry will run the car tomorrow, but I came home.

I tried to post more pics of other cars but I received a message that the was a problem with "security tokens"???

A rat roadster and a rat custom at the race. Also the Triad Willys owned and driven by Al Tschida (RIP, my good friend) and Bill Mitchell. Recently found and reassembled by another friend, John Z.

Show Today

500 cars and 2 rats. Perfect weather. I drove the Fiat but didn't enter the show.
First, a two story rat. A very low sedan with laid back seats. I'd fall asleep. A cool Berry Mini-T. Remember those?

Love the roadster and the Hudson. Were they owned by the same person?

Same club, e-man. All the folks in that corner were in the same club. Beyond that, I don't know. It is a club close to Brainerd. Here's a T with A fenders from the same group.

Well, what do ya know? A real Thursday night at Gruber's. Bluebird perfect weather and lots of old guys eating meat and scratching their... Forgetting what they're talking about in the middle of a sentence. Anyhoo, here's the new cars to the party.
A very nice Plasti-Deuce roadster. Never seen one in red before.
A Ford for Tom Cruise in sky blue.
A yellow submarine...er, Studebarker.

Nice Stude Dude!

A very big gathering at the Grube's tonight. Late last winter one of our guys passed away with Covid. He was only 70. His wife and some of the other wives put on a big feed for everyone. Lots of food. There were quite a few non-car people there. Nothing new to show so here's three repeats.
I was merrily fighting rush hour traffic on the way to Gruber's when the Fiat started running terribly. The Holley carb was flooding, with gas rapidly leaking out the boosters. I managed to drive back home by shutting off the Holley fuel pump and driving till the float bowl was close to empty then turning the pump on for a few seconds. Repeat. Repeat.

Ever resourceful Bob! I'm afraid the later we get into the shortcomings of our fuel supplies, we'll need to keep an eye open for bad fuel. Either by plan of ne'er do wells or settlement in storage tanks due to short supply. I filled both trucks the other day and had similar results trying to get any where. The 31 was an easy fix to blow the blockage. The 83 C10 however, was a different story. Jeez louweez! I got a discount priced carb...$415?!?

Glad you made it home - I had a Holley 750 that did that regularly, I'd just whack the float bowl with a wrench and it would behave again. Never did fix it right, just a sticky float or needle/seat....
