Hey all, well my 16 year old son is really getting into this thing, he is getting very good at welding, loves to help, I didn't think i would ever get him off his cell phone, always texting, he fell in love with a shoebox in 1 of the mags and now I guess I need to find him 1, that should keep him busy for a while, anybody got a shoebox they want to part with, we have a shoesting budget to go with the shoebox :D

thanks bonehead but your not only in co. you are closer to utah, that would be a very long raod trip, maybe rent an rv and see 3/4 of the country at the same time, then take a week off after we get home to rest up :)
send a few pictures and price on my pm and i'll let my son look, thanks.
( by the way ?? ) on a early ford front axel, which way should the king pin bolts be facing when the axel is installed, to the front or rear ?? i think i have read on here there is no right or wrong way to mount the axel, ( flip from side to side ) i think they look best to the rear.

As far as I know You are correct. Never heard anything otherwise.

Well I was working late tonight and my son came home and started welding up the rear end upper supports, and for S&G he cut the old caddy springs ans tacked them in so he could bounce on the rear end, I was suprised when I made it home. And before I catch h*ll we are not using those springs, we are going to make a set of struts and adjustable coil overs work for the rear of it, free old struts laying around the garage and a set of $ 10.00 ebay adjustable springs like the kids use on hondas, figured it was cheep enough and I can adjust the spring rate also. We still need to put some gussets here and there and do some more welding when we flip the frame but it is getting there, It was pretty cool to see it hold itself up tonight.:D

can someone identify these spindles, year ??? and I need to know will I hurt anything if I cut the top off of the king pin, and cut down the spindle where the old steering shaft went into the top of it, I need the room to bolt my steering arms up, just dont want to go and kill myself for looks, nobody wants a spindle going south when it needs to go north.
I have a set of round back spindles I could use if needed, they don't have the top hole in them, and I guess I could order some diff. king pins with out the top on them, I just dont know what year the round backs are either, thanks in advance for any help.

busy times

been busy the last few weeks, changed the front spindles to later ones, and got the front frame rails filled in, front end almost togeather now, and will soon be set on frame, here are a few pictures, I have had a hard time getting the right rear wheels from summit, I ordered 15 x 8 / 5 on 4-3/4 with 2" back space and they sent 5 on 4-1/2 so I called and they sent a call tag for the 2 and sent out 2 more and today they camein and were the same 5 on 4 1/2 I couldn't belive they screwd up 2x's go figure, will call again in the morning and try to get someone to check the next 2 before they send them out.

DAYLIGHT

Well for the fist time EVER I rolled it outside today on its own suspension, feels good to see some daylight, this thing is long, I didnt relize how long it was untill I looked at it along side my caddy, it has a longer wheel base than the caddy, I need to get my front end up about 1 inch, I think the oil pan is going to be too low, I may have to build a spacer to fit between the front spring and perch to get it up some, kind of like a spring craddle so the spring will stay in place. Im having problems up loading pictures again, you can see them here www.myspace.com/lowandratty
