Have you tried Kanter's for the brakes & bearings? I used get hard to find stuff from them when i was dealing with old Pontiacs

The 39 pontiac drop out center section will fit into a 50 olds r/e. I used that in one of my cars. That being said a 56 would be the same drop out, or pumpkin. 57 was the change yr for both pontiac and olds.
