It usually was behind very low power engines. If you have much power I don't think it will last

Its a stock 305 with intake and a holly carb msd ignition

should work just fine..
They used the 200 in a ton of 80 model cars ....low power smogged down of course....200 250 horse max stuff.....should be no problem with a stock 305 with your upgrades....

If it gives you trouble just put a th-350 short shaft in it's place, everything fits. Tobby

Years ago I put one in my 70 Nova with the kickdown unhooked and the only way you could get the final drive gear was to put it in neutral and back into drive.I cant count the times my girl accidently hit reverse getting on the freeway.That tranny held out for years behind a healthy 350 even with the tire squealing engine stalling reverse hits.

That is NOT a kickdown on the TH200 but a throttle valve cable that controls the shift pressure. You cannot drive a TH200 more than a mile with it diconnected or out of adjustment.
