I had the good fortune to go to the U.S Nationals (Indianapolis) from 1963 to 1977. Grumpy was one of my favorites. Lots of other favorites too, that sadly have departed.
I also have a booklet by Grumpy on how to build a Small Block Chevy engine. One pic shows a block setting on the floor with a guy standing over it, half inch drill motor in hand, running a hone up and down the cylinder. High tech had not yet arrived.
