My first car was a 2 door, 61 Impala my dad purchased for $100 and gave it to me as my birthday gift....It was owned by an old couple that bought it new and my dad serviced it for them over the years and knew the car.....Its the one car I wish I still had now.

i paid $150 for this one about 12 or 13 years ago... gave it to my dad for fathers dad, redid it for him a few years later .... he has since passed away so its mine again.
 
61 is my favorite Impala and I bet the pics don't do it justice either [dr
I had a 61 Bubble top, baby blue, 348, when I was 17, bought it for $300.
That was 44 years ago so it was only 7 years old and in great shape.

It had the 283 and powerglide but soon got 327 heads, 056 cam and 4bbl...ran pretty well....I had a 58 with the 348 and turboglide...kept blowing the reverse gear slamming it down into low and hitting reverse at the bottom..lol..

i can see were hitting reverse could be hard on the trans....:D thanks for all the kind words everyone!!!
 
nice car i had a 61 bubble top in highschool 348 atuo wish i had it now
