cab mounts

Thanks guys. Started making front cab mounts. Made risers out of 1/4 inch round stock. Tacked in place for now, prefer 1/8 stock, but I had it. Will add a round flat piece to the top. Looking forward to bringing the cab home. Amazing how well the stock frame supports line up with the Pilot cab. :)

Can you or skull enlighten me on the differences between the years on on the PH cabs Burgerman?
The one near me says that It's titled as a 1957(Which I doubt). Looks to me to be a pre 1951>
Thanks and keep hammering at it.

yep

here is a great pilothouse web site, go to the heading labeled dodge gallery and the pics show the different year grill/front-end and the other differences

there is a slight difference in the dashes, the 1948-195O dash is flat on top, the 1951 to 1953 have "pods" that stick up from the dash.

1948 to 1953 windshields are 2 piece and 1954 up are one piece.

Thanks skull.
Not to hijack your thread Burgerman.......
The one down the road from me is supposedly titled as a 1957 but I think that's wrong.
It has the split windshield as well as the Chrome piece on the front lower edge of the hood.
I will get over there later and take a few pics.

Got the cab home. Figured it may fit in my GMC truck, and it does. Strapped it down, and took the back roads for the 20 mile run home from the farm. Got a few looks. Easy to see why they call it a Pilot House cab. :D

more photos

Tight fit, but it worked. I recall the difficulty with blind spots driving a 3 window truck 40 years ago. This one will be a Sunday driver. Gonna take it easy. :)

Decided to build the lift structure. Will have a 4x8 piece of dimensional lumber on top. A bit more work beefing things up and it will be ready. I will run supports to the back wall also.

I did something like that in my shop as well. The bottom of my trusses are at 8 feet but my uprights go up between them. The cross piece sits at 10 feet and I can lift right up to the bottom of the trusses or in the case of an engine I can go higher as a small will fit between the trusses when turned sideways.
I built it when I had to pull a boat engine and I had to go 6 feet up before it would clear the deck.
