I have been asked by a few of you to post a few pics of what I am doing.
It all started as a bet with my brother in law after spending almost a year doing a total stock resto on a 65 VW Bettle (boring) I hate doing restorations just takes all the fun out of a build. Anyway I bet him I could do a build of something on the cheap end of 4k, I won't go into what has spent on that Bug:eek:. So this all started with a $205.00 e-bay 1937 Pontiac 4 door hump back sedan so very ugly and just rotten to the core.
Here you have it. From the start July 2009

Now top is off and I need to get rid of the front doors.
The mistake I made was I widened the cowl instead of pinching the frame to fit it, would have been alot easier might have looked better, it is just a little wide:(

next was widening the cowl and getting everything lined up so that the front of the rear doors worked with the cowl door jamb and now the tops of the rear, now the only doors need to be cut off and replaced with the tops of the old front doors to line up with the roof[;)

I got just a little side tracked from the body, I just wanted the junk frozen up rotted poncho326 V/8 out of it and that god afull front syspension gone.
I yanked out the motor and whacked off the front 18"s of the frame along with the sysp and found a 47 Ford axle and split the wish bone and put 1/4 eliptical springs on it along with disk brakes and a Vega steering box.
I also got my dash parts, the pods are from a 59/60 Chevy I have added an extra large one for a tach and 1/2 of one of the small ones for a clock, more parts to the Puzzle

Wow!! You've taken on an enormous job! What a great idea though to shorten the car to a 2 door![cl...Lookin good, don't forget more pics!:D.CR

there is a 2 door version of this in my local bone yard. Its all I can do not to buy it each time Im there.

Could be a good car, go for it before someone beats ya to it.;)

Speaking of 2dr sedans and coupe's, I have gotten 2 PM's here and a bunch from another site that I posted this on from guys telling me where there is one or the other and that it would be a whole lot easier to just start with one of those.
I guess some people just don't get it[S
My question to them or anyone is............How many Hump back 5 window coupe's have you seen?:p

It would be easier, but then it wouldnt be yours. I honestly believe that a car falls in one of two categories.

1: its yours. You designed it, built it, agonized over each decision, and bled on it.

2: its something the bank let you have.

My plan for the front was to use a 38 LaSalle grill shell and grill along with a 38 Buick hood that is extra long so here it is with those parts just kinda sitting on it.

Good stuff C12--the LaSalle grill is a find. That Buick hood is a mile long.. I'm messing with one on my Speedster. Stacking parts to get the idea of how it'll look is the fun part. My shop is so small,I can't see how anything really works till I get it outside and stand back..

Got the ck in the mail today--thanks much--the parts are supposed to be at your place Thursday.. Haven't checked on the trunk yet--will look Sat.

Pa, glad you got it. Ya I looked and looked for that grill and shell and had I say HAD big plans for it. Those pics were taken long before I channeled the body, now that I have done that it is way to tall and won't work unless I sectioned it and doing that to that grill would be next to impossible because the grill was made of pot metal and it also weighed about 30lbs. So I sold off the grill and am rethinking how to use the shell.
This is kinda where I am at now. Thinking sideways with maybe a set of quad headlights, maybe use 58 chevy fender parts along with the shell.
I am not much of an artist but I did a small drawing of what I am thinking.
