Thanks Riverrat... I lifted up the car cover and peeked at Eli... I realized how much I missed him over the winter.. so it looks like I will be getting back to action! [cl

I've been SLACKING....

Wow... talk about a slacker!!!!

I'm back at it, well at least a little, still fixing what I started last year.

Got the roof back up on the passenger ride, for some reason it was a 1/2" lower...

Ended up cutting the entire hinge pocket out of the rear door for that rear hinge, as the bolts refused to come out and I need the hinge for my door. Managed to burn up a skill saw, I love to see those when they are on fire :17:

Also got the rear door cut down and welded into place, man it turned out a ton better than the other side, so I will be cutting it lose and re welding it to make it work better.

Lastly I discovered that the left over skin on the passenger rear door fits better and matches the curve on the drivers door, so it looks like I will be cutting the drivers door up again and redoing it, and unfortunately I cut the other door skin up trying to make it work on the driver side, so it looks like I'll have to get another piece for the passenger side... if that'a not crazy I don't know what is....

last picture shows the door I'll have to rework (driver side)

Progress.... well ... kinda

So... I didn't get a whole lot done over the weekend trying to get the deck wrapped up and all the Easter events at church. I did pick up a 5/16" Rod at the hardware store for my welding butt clamps... also getting shed in order....

....more to come.....

UPDATE......

Did a little dumpster diving... not intentionally but I saw some plexi-glass starting me in the face... so I will hang on to it and make temporary windows from it :)

More goodies for Eli/Titus.....

Well.... I've been busy working on 50 Chevy... still no name yet... But I've not forgotten about this one, still collecting some goodies for it...

I've scored a 59 Impala dash, I think this will set the interior off, I'm going to do a bit of narrowing on it for it to fit of course.

I also decided to keep the trunk and hood from the caprice that I got as a donor for the 50 Chevy so I could use them for parts of the floor, and i think I may even be able to use the rocker panels :D waste not...want not right????

I also swapped my 18's for a set of 20's  i love trading around especially when it doesn't cost anything but a little jawing....[cl

Head light idea? maybe?

Hey all.. this thread has been snoozing a little while, but I figured I would toss out an idea I had about some head lights I came across... Newer model head lights have to be absolutely right to work on an older rod IMO, I've seen several attempts and most look like a good effort, a lot of hours and the product never looks to be completely fitting, however, I saw a set of Lexus GS lights... and was like...hmmmm[S

Let me know what you think?

My original buckets were shot on the 40... although hind sight being 20/20 I probably could have salvage something if I sunk them in the fenders, but I ended up selling them off....

this is a quick Photoshop.... this car had what looks like a 7" sunk in originally on the left and I added the GS light on the right.

A Hiatus is a Good Thing

Well, as you guys know I'm working on 2 projects.... with the daily driver drama thrown in there from time to time....

Anyway... time off from Eli/Titus... has given me time to sharpen my skills in other areas... welding...metal fabrication... custom parts.. custom brackets...ect... which I feel that all those areas being sharpened will produce a better product for this car :D

My goal for the 1950 Chevy was to have it drive-able in the same year I started it and that has been accomplished... I even snuck in a car show with it. All in all it's been a productive year... I'v motor swapped the 50 chevy, rear end swapped my 97 2500 HD chevy... re did the rear end axle seals and bearings on a 10 bolt rear end ..my 2001 camaro....

All things said... I'm ready to drag Eli back out of the shed and finish up the chop... I have learned a lot about pie-cutting...welding...brazing...seaming...pancaking...flattening...and leading and I just wanted to say THANKS to all that you guys contribute!

I see the Dream of Eli being a sweet custom with the ability to lay on the ground creeping closer from future and into the present. :D
