I recently lost my dad. Unexpectedly had a heart attack in his sleep on October 12th.
He once called an old Dodge he had "Bad names and dirty words". This morning I traded my Yamaha for a 1955 Desoto Firedome with a 291 Hemi. It will be a tribute build for my dad. Hence me giving it the same name he gave his Dodge. Doesn't need much. Most of the parts that it is missing I have already located. Here are some of the pictures. Some are from me looking at it this morning and some are from the Craigslist ad. It's too dark for pictures right now, But she started right up when I got her home.

My granddad had a 55 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe. Same door handles. My dad got it when he passed. That was the late 50s. No idea where that car went. Class act that car. [cl

Nice car... sorry to hear about your dad. It seems to be in the air. My cousins husband just passed away of the same thing 3 days ago...50 years old and an avid runner.

One of my oldest friends is building a 49 Plymouth. He chopped out the headlights because he wanted to do a stacked look. I asked him how much for the original buckets. He said come get them. So, mild progress today while I search for a 6 volt battery,

The twins decided to "help" me while I was cleaning the windows.

Thanks guys. Dad was my hero. He once played Drums for Fats Domino. He was an extra in the movie Frank and Jesse where he got to arrest his lifelong hero Frank James. He made it to 71.

sorry for your loss man. I think the build will help bring closure. I built the 29 as a tribute to my dad after he passed away. therapy I called it and I feel like he is there with me sometimes.
cool car and it looks like you got some good helpers.

Today I called Holley and they said a Weiand blower for this (part # 7581) is like $3500. Also, it is the type that stick through the hood. Not a fan. I like the low deck one. Anyone know if they make a universal one that just bolts to an intake? Also looking at turbos, but don't like how they make the motor look.

Scouring Craigslist last night looking for bucket seats. Came across an ad offering free to first texter. I texted. Really great condition seats that the guy was going to use in a rat that he traded off. So I picked them up today. Turned out to be a guy I sold a couple of garage doors to last year.

Very nice of you to do a car in his memory. Love the name also. Id like to hear that old hemi running. Thats a really solid looking car too. [cl

I have always been told that when something is meant to be, it will be. My dad's mother passed away Friday night at 93 years old. We were just told that Dad's older brother won't survive the night. Cranking bolts on this car is what is keeping me sane. Today I picked up the gas tank. Cost me exactly nothing. Guy cleaning up his stuff said come get. So I did. it has two gallons of diesel in it so I know it doesn't leak and isn't rusted. At this point, this car has cost me a bike that I didn't ride anymore and $9 worth of carpet. I figure to put about $60 to $100 in the brakes and then I will be done spending until I upgrade the sterio

Sorry for all you losses. Sounds like your dad had an interesting life. My dad had a similar car when I was young. It was pretty fast and took a beating, from you know who.
