Seems that finding a Desoto master cylinder is like finding a winning lottery ticket in the trash. But a ford master cylinder is only $28. So I have to fab up a mounting plate, but that's easy. I'll post some pics when its done.

Rev, I had just been looking through Andy Bernbaum's oldmoparts catalogue and remembered that he has '55 Desoto master cylinders and kits for sale. Find his ad online.
Great car you've got there.

The bracket is done. Steel plate was free. The hard part was finding the nuts. Chrysler used long winded (read fine thread) ones back then. needed 4 5/16 x 24. Cost me 48 cents.

Love the name "bad names and dirty words"! I think thats what my neighbors call me when im grinding on something at midnight! Should be a cool car.

I got the car from a dealer. He was pretty honest when he told me that he knew very little about it. What he did know was the guy he got it from wanted to make a drag car out of it. The guy took the wheel cylinders and rear brakes completely out. So I was reading prices and the cylinders are $38 each. The shoes are about the same. And in the end you still have drum, brakes. A friend called me. His buddy rolled his car. scrapping it out. For $50, I could have his disk brake rear-end, all lines and parts. Duh. Ok, so I know I am going to be grinding and welding and painting the next few days to turn it from a coil spring to a leaf spring rear, but I'll take the labor.

Looks like you got a lot of good help there, cute kids.

killing a little more time today. It's not perfect, but I kinda dig the contrasting colors.

some work done. The disk brake rear is mocked into place. Will weld it in a few days. Mostly just playing with the interior right now when the weather is nice enough.
