Started my vaction today so I did some work in the shop. Did a quicky clean-up and paint on my 50 year old Wilton Bullet Vise. Painted it hammered silver because I like it and had some. I'll go back and do the letters in black. The jaws were in pretty good shape should last another 50 years.

Disassembled it and cleaned it up. There are some saw and hammer marks but not too bad. I'll just leave them for character. I will be using this anyway.

Those big old Wiltons are the greatest. You really did a nice job restoring it.

Doesn't it feel good to use a tool after you freshen it up ? I just went through our Jet bandsaw, put a new blade on it, lubed up the rollers, replaced the little wire wheel that flicks shavings off the blade, and aligned it so it is cutting perfectly straight now. What a difference and I wonder why I waited so long.

A good vice like you have there is one of the best tools a shop can have. I have broken the jaws on some cheaper ones over the years but found a big old steel one at an estate sale some years ago and I beat on it, heat stuff in it, and it never complains.

Your vise is pretty now!
Wish I could find time to do routine maintenance.
