howdy...for my ratrod, I plan on getting a 350 with a 700R4; but i do not know what rear axel to get (chevy, ford, molar, etc.)? I feel the gears should be either 342 or 373 as I would like to keep the RPM's around 2k or less as i plan on cruising between shows/cities.
Tires are going to be 235/75-R15 in rear and 185/65-R15 up front; vehicle is an 1984 Chevy T10 stripped down to frame and cab only...

Use the 3.73 with the 700 transmission.
Want a bit better open road mileage go with a taller gear.
That's my one and half cents, saving up to reach two.

Keep the lockup working and higher stall the convertor(new one).

with the 235/70r or 75r/15 you could go with 3.90x1 or 4.00x1 and still be in a good rpm range.

cool info guys; thanks...this is the first time that i am "breaking out" on my own and making something from other vehicles instead of just restoring them to original condition. right now, i am in the deconstruction mode but i want to plan things out as early as possible...
