Well the wife and I drove the Studebaker 150 miles to the Shades of the Past rod run in Pigeon Forge TN today. We got 17.5 MPH with the 4.3. V6 and 2.90 gears. I kept up withraffic on I40 west and we ran 75-80 mph a lot. There is a long climb up the mountain West of Asheville NC and we never hot below 70 mph there.

We had a good time and the Studebaker ran great all weekend.
I tried to post some pics but they were rotated 90 degrees left and I said to heck with it.

pics..

This is exactly why we build them, to do what you just did. What a wonderful sense of accomplishment, taking some old car, breathing new life into it, and then hitting the open highway. [cl

Glad you had a great trip, I have been hearing about Pigeon Forge for decades.

What Don said but I might also add... when I get the itch to let my car stretch it's legs & I get up around 100mph I always think to myself... just remember who built this car & that brings me right back to reality!

Nah, you'll be fine, Bob. You've heard the expression "Here, hold my beer and watch this !" What could go wrong ? :D

The last time I drove my 27, about 6 weeks ago, I got to playing with some guy on the road. I nailed it, got moving faster than I intended, and the front end got a LITTLE LIGHT ! Got my attention real quick.
