Very exciting to finally get to this stage [cl, the color is awesome [cl[cl

Thank you !

We are thrilled and can’t wait to get it buffed out and start assembly. The pictures are good but up close and personal it has a different highlight depending on where your point of view is from. We have some great weather for a change. We can’t wait to get it outside in the sunlight.

Wet sanded and buffed the rear fenders. Cut and glued the fender welt to the driver fender. Tomorrow I’ll attach it to the passenger fender. …Drum Roll, then we install both rear fenders, rear running boards, the rear bumper and gas filler cap for the final time!

Things are progressing a little slower than we hoped but we’re getting happier by the day! We’ll finish out the rear end tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have to return my bumpers to the chrome shop. The chrome is peeling off! My choices in supporting cast businesses have been a real bust during this restoration. First my upholstery guy and now the bumpers.

Here’s a quick look back and the latest. They sure look good on especially knowing we aren’t taking them off again!

Finished the week with a few more additions. Returned the rear bumper and bumper guards to be re-plated today. The new chrome job didn’t fair well. Hope to be able to pick it up next weekend. Rule #7, Ron decided to complete the fuel tank and finish sanding and buffing so I can finish the fuel system while he finishes the painting of the front panels on Monday.

Rear running boards installed, fuel inlet, deck lid hinges installed and roll bar positioned to tack before final.

It sure seems like the car building gods are wanting us to work on this project for a full two years! Here lately it’s two steps forward and one back.
Hahahaha

Got ready to silver soldier our fuel tank and the package of silver soldier flux leaked out before we even opened the package. Of course they didn’t have another in stock. We needed to adjust our seats since the upholster didn’t pay close attention to detail when he had the car for weeks. I’m hoping my new brackets will allow some adjustment to correct the seat alignment, thickness and height that were not adhered too!
Started painting the engine panels and one corner was contaminated. We had some fish eyeing in one area. So it has to be sanded and prepped all over again.
Bumpers are suppose to be redone by this coming weekend🤞The new plating we peeling off.

Now to Our Steps Forward Progress!
The body is sanded and buffed. So far everyone who has come by the shop their first comment is WOW! Front running boards are installed. However, we’ve decided to implement Rule #7 and add the fender welt along the inside edge of both front running boards as well. Degreased and detailed the front frame. Installed the top plates which cover the brake pedal assembly/stop light switch access. Planning to get the fuel tank done tomorrow and back to finish painting the engine panels. Running Friday? Stay tuned!

Not much in the way of pictures lately. Mainly tying up loose ends to make ready to get back under power.

Fuel tank finished and installed by Ron. I finalized the wiring for fuel sending unit and power to the fuel pump. Set up the pressure gauge to adjust the fuel pressure regulator and ran some electrical and fuel system items. Tomorrow weld the the sensor mount, connect the ecu, test our injectors and “gentlemen start your engine”!

We will be painting again soon. As soon as we are running we’ll be ready for engine panels soon to move forward with our final assembly. Bumpers had to be redone since the new plating was peeling off. They’re still a week away I found out today. Funny how their sense of urgency goes down after they cash the check!

We’re under power! Thanks to Ron for double checking our specs on the fuel pump pressure. I would have sworn I read it was 47psi. After a quick double check Ron discovered it was 43psi. We had to reset the regulator first thing. After the minor adjustment all of our checks passed, oil check, radiator full and fuel. Hit the switch and it fired right up.

Paint day tomorrow of engine panels and minor adjustments to the hood then prep for paint hopefully next good weather day. Another milestone day!

Took advantage of being up in the air to shoot a pic of our fuel filter, pump, fuel filter set up for the new efi system. Of course Ron hasn’t let me live down that I installed 3/8” nutzerts to mount the filters and pump. The clamps came with the 3/8 bolts, so good enough for the clamps good enough for the pump. Hahaha.. It’s been a running joke about some of our original build material choices. My grandfather believed if 1/4” was good 1/2” would be better. Plus what ever he had laying around as long as it was heavy duty!

Paint day tomorrow! We finished everything needed to drive it out of the shop tomorrow so we don’t have to cover it up to paint. The ecu seems to be learning the likes and dislikes of the engine. I plan to take it out tomorrow on a short shake down cruse.

We finally have finished with the rain 🤞 so pics tomorrow…It will be out of the shop once again and the sun is supposed to be shining. Maybe we’ll get lucky and get a call from the chrome shop. 🤞🤞

Enjoy your one of a kind car. Just don't add up the hours you have in it!

The color is alive!

Thanks Bob! That is definitely what this project has been since inception, enjoying and having fun. No way do I even want to know how many hours I’ve invested in this labor of love. The first time my grandfather said we could have bought a new Cadillac if we were paid $.05/hour.

Yesterday was a monumental day! Fired her up and drove out of the garage under her own power. Went for a short shake down cruise and found a few things that need adjustment but for the most part everything performed as expected. Since we aren’t street legal I didn’t take it out on the highway but there was plenty of space to give it a good test. It felt good to get it out of the shop. Ron took advantage of the car being out and painted the lower engine panels. The upper panels get painted 5/28 (today) The front end gets put together next week.

One of the best decision I made was installing the EFI. Even though the ride was short the EFI performed as expected. There was a noticeable improvement in performance. I’m going to enjoy this improvement!

Ron got a pic of me in the car, he said I could be happy, so I’m happy!
