More floor today.
Welded in and bolted down the other 2 cross members. Then I started to put in the filler pieces. ![]() ![]() ![]() Also...... I'm in search for one of these. Its a in dash shift system from a 1955 Dodge. All the Mopars used them for one year only. 1955. If anyones has one they want to get rid of, or knows of one. Send me a message. Thanks. Keep on keeping on........ Torchie |

I bet that gear shift will be hard to find. Looks pretty simple, I bet you could fab one up pretty easily.

It could be fab’d up but I’m trying to keep putting more Mopar back into it.😎 Making my own is my fall back position. Torchie |

You've brought back memories, Torchie. My school friend's parents had a '55 Plymouth with that shifter in it. I drove it in their yard once; one of the scariest 100 feet of my life. That was the first automatic I had ever driven or even seen. It wasn't the gearshift that scared me, it was the lack of a clutch.

Another reason why RRR/UDS will always rule.
It looks like you have the shifter deal covered. I have never seen one of these. Another thought: some later vans had the shifter on the dash. I think the mechanism was the same as the early '60 floor shifter. It wouldn't look the part, though.

![]() My first though too, bob. ![]() Quote:
I agree with your thoughts about it looking too modern. Finished the front section of the floor framing. Now all I have to do is connect it to the next main crossmember. I received a message from another ebay seller that has the shift control as well as an overdrive control. I like the looks of the overdrive control but not sure it would work for a trans shifter. Thanks for visiting.... Torchie |

Cut out a pattern for the sheet metal.
I’m using 18 gauge I have to attach the toe kicks to the door opening then I can attach this piece of sheeting. This will be it for a while. I’m out of sheet metal and down to one piece of 1x2 frame stock. My budget for this month is also gone.😳 Time to figure my next step until I get some more build funds together. Keep on keeping on........ Torchie |
