I added about 600 lbs to the front to see how low the 429 will squat the front. 1/2 inch.

I've got 560 pounds of block plus I stood on the front, making it 710 pounds. The weight is farther forward than the 429 will sit so I'd say it's down as far as it's going to go. This way I can go ahead and get the angle of the cab where I want it. I got lucky with the leaf set up, all 4 eyes in the leafs sit down perfectly on the rails. I thought I'd have to stagger the mounts, I went with 31 inches outside width on the frame before I even had the axle to measure, that don't happen every day.

Got the grille mocked up but have to wait until tomorrow to go any farther, the scrap yard is closed on Sunday and I need some 3/16 flat bar.

I started on the bed today, only took 10 mins to cut the bedside off the 71, floor was gone. This will be the more challenging side. I might cut out a section from the door to cover the utility box hole, the utility door is rotten.

Ran into a great deal at rural king yesterday, DeWalt cutting wheels for .99 each, no limit. I bought 20 and only took one to cut the other side of the bed in half and the tailgate in 2 pieces. I've been paying $3 each at Lowe's for cheap ones. I want to try and get the bed done this week. I think I'm going to line the bed in old license plates. I've got 8 60s ohio and 8 60s and 70s Kansas plates.

A little steel wool and vinegar in this wet weather makes some nice rust stains. I'll leave the steel wool on for a couple more days to darken up the streaks then spray it all down with baking soda and water to neutralize the acid. I did this on my 53 and the rust stains never washed off. The picture is just from one day.
