Are these babys worth messing with? I have one I have had soaking in Mystery Marval and Trans fluid I thought about pulling and tearing down. I know some engines are worth building and some are just not. Like the pre 1953 Chevy 235 they say are not worth building because they are not a full pressure oil system. Just feeling out this idea. Anyone running on old flathead? Any thoughts?

The general rule with flathead Ford V-8's is if you can't hear it running, then the block is cracked. And sometimes even when you can! By all means tear it down if you want to spend some time and maybe learn something about how they work, but don't expect much. If it has spent much time open outside at all it's more than likely a goner...

I just sold a running 1936 21 stud engine for $500. Probably 85 hp.

I bought a rebuilt 1948 59AB for my 34 Coupe for $600. The guy had it running in his 48 Coupe.

I think they look totally cool but it puts out only a little more than a 100hp.
I also have 2 Mercury 255 cid flatheads.
