What's that front mounted "pump" device? ^^^ Looks too high to be crank or camshaft driven...

First three pics are from my home track. Mid 70's, I suspect. (When did Street Roadster disappear?) The T in the far lane later became my buddy's altered. Notice the fence bars in the first pic... bent from many asses perched!
