Me too! Along with Corsairs, I also liked the Mustangs and the Hellcats! But, the only ones I would really want to be able to fly are the old biplanes before them. The simple stuff, where there was a choke pull type throttle, 2 pedals, and a stick...

Me 3!! I love all military aviation, but WW2 era is my favorite. There was a guy who had his own air strip by my dad's place when I was a kid. He had a mustang and a Corsair. They would fly them together every so often! So cool!!

there were some real cool planes .. Lancaster , hurricane, polished mustangs, the spit, B17 and the B29 , grumman hellcat, catalina flying boat, .. had all of these hangng on cotton from my bedroom ceiling, and more.

the Mosquito lived 3/4hr drive from my home, the day the wings were shipped to https://www.omaka.org.nz/

1- 1/4hrs drive 2 lowbeds going opposite direction with a wing on each ....

on my birthday i drove over to watch the first time the Mosquito's 2 Merlins fire up in years ... made the hairs boogie on the back of my neck .. they sounded so beautiful , crisp sound merlins always made ... they ran her for just over 15 mins no problems , standing less than 50 yards away it sure was a huge buzz... sadly she'll never fly as the cost of complete rebuild to suit modern avaiation rules far outweighs the thickness of the museums wallets.

then id wandered down to the end of the nearby runway after the mozzie was shut down.. the Yak did some aerobatics flipping from horizontal to 90* right above my head - man that thing really was fast!! - then carried on to make a long lazy curve over the aerodrome...

classic car displays and Bi-planes, i could stand infront of the workshop and see the resto planes in progress

that was a cool birthday ... !!

oh yeah siiide note... Peter Jackson the director of the many and never ending hobbit / lord of the rings movies... is tied up with the Omaka aerodrome... - if you are over to NZ one day id recommend i the place.. they also boast a reasonble classic car collection

Fort Lauderdale Executive airport hosts the Wings Of Freedom tour, featuring the remaining B17, B24 Liberator, a few P51s. Less than a mile from this airport was the latex processing plant where I worked for 25 years, and was in the flight path of the planes taking off.

The B17 and the B24 would just be climbing low and mean over the plant a couple times a day long giving the sight seeing half hour flight. This was quite awesome and I wonder if our plant which was built not long after WWII and decrepit looking would be in the sites as a target.

FLYING FORTRESS EVENT

What also was at this airport was an WWII era DC3, which was now carrying cargo to the nearby islands, and would be flying over the plant at least twice a day.

Well the fate of that DC3 was breaking news at the exact same time a drugged out Michael Jackson was being escorted into court in his jammies, and the national news did a split screen of Jackson, and this DC3, which was now laying in the middle of the street in a residential neighborhood just east of the plant. Amazingly nobody killed.

Here are the pics:
