GM "clam shells" motor mounts

Can anyone enlighten me on why these cause me so much trouble.Was doing a motor swap in a 85 blazer, the motor going in come out of a truck. I told my son to swap the mounts , he said "they are the same".Well after wrestling with it had to pull it out and do it all over again with the old mounts and it dropped right in. Got into this same thing with a Camaro. Wish they wouldn't make things look so close but but not fit.

GM basically had 2 different mount heights throughout the years. Tall and short. I went through this same thing with my chevelle and it has the style before the clam shell type. I was told it was BBC and SBC even though the spacing on the frame is the same...

Haha, I don't know how you Ford guys do it. If you're lucky there are only 4 options for the same part.

Even the most optimistic of the Ford guys, will notice his flame flickering sometimes.

LOL, that's why give up on fords a long time ago, too much to remember.

Yeah and that was before serial number 37896003, after that was 5 more different ones.

But if they started making your vehicle before 37896003 and ended after, you've got to try all the options.
