A friend of mine had a car that lost reverse and he drove it for a long time like that, he was just careful to not get into situations where he had to back up. But one time he forgot and pulled up to the building at 7-11 and it was like "Oh oh !" So he just pushed it backwards and was on his way.

And I would have fixed the transmission like a sucker.
