Well I know this is not a Rat Rod but I hope some will like what I did to keep an old Allis Chalmers WD alive and well.

A little history, after retiring in 2000 I moved from Southern, CA to Coupeville, WA. After 40+ years of front motor dragster drag racing I sold our complete race operation and planned for a new game "Vintage Tractor Pulling", that ment going from 190 mph passes to 5 mph max pass.

I bought an old Allis Chalmers WD tractor and completely rebuilt it in old school style. Pushed the motor up from stock 38 or so HP to about 75HP.

One of the pictures is of the AC-WD with her baby the AC-712 that I build for the kids to try pulling a mini sled that came to our pulling show in Linden, WA.

Hope you enjoy the pictures. My feeling is "If It Has A Motor It Has To Be Good"

Very cool! My dad built a mini Oliver 1650 out of a big mower to match his big tractors.

Thanks to all for the nice comments.

For the AC-712 the club had a small sled with a skid plate that looked just like our big sled only much smaller. It had a weight bar that traveled forward with from 1 to 10 25# weights. Kids love being able to get aboard and pulling like dad.

See if I can dig up a few more pictures.:D

Mrs Tripper's Dad was an Allis Chalmers fan. Mowed his 20 acres with an AC many, many times... quite a task in Texas' summers! Thanks for posting! [cl

My late father restored a few antique tractors. He and my nephews puled a few of them. The one they did the most with was an Allis Chalmers WC. they had a lot of fun. Unfortunately they are all up for sale to help pay for my mom's care. She has alzheimer's.

I have a special place for AC WD & WC tractors.[cl

Kenny c -- Very sorry to hear about your mom, best wishes to her. As with most sports it's family first

Well Tom, Another area of interest you had in your life. When I was a kid I went to horse pulling contests. Loved to watch those big beasts dig and snort as more men would jump on the skid until slowing them to a stop.
Pulling looks like a fun hobby that got totally out of hand.

Yep Bob you can say that again.

Don't know how vintage tractor pulling is in your neck of the woods but in the Pacific Northwest OR & WA they have kept a lid on the vintage pulls and just about any one can build one without selling the farm.

A little more about what I did with the AC-WD when I got ready to move back to Southern CA. For the last year I was up in WA I let a high school kid drive my tractor. At the end of our pulling season he came to talk to me with his gramma, She told me he wanted to buy my tractor, but the deal was that he had to sell two of his steers at the county fair to pay for it. She told him if you pay for it, it's your and not your parents, you keep it up and take care of it. One very nice and very smart gramma.

Well found a few more shots with some JD, MM, Farmall.

I like them all pulling or plowing.[cl[cl
