Well guys I ran across a 1972 sportster lots of chrome. it is a complete bike all stock needs wiring. Now me being me I cannot ride a stock bike or a bike with shocks on the back of it. Even if it is a nice clean shortster or piglit. Besides stock sporsters are to small for me I look funny riding them. So I am gonna tear it down to the bare frame and hard tail it. Stretch the frame run ape hangers and maybe a springer. I will post pics later this week or this weekend.

It is officially a rigid frame, now to make it a bobber or a chopper. If I make it a chopper do I make it a long chop or a short chop. Decisions decisions I guess I will think about it for a day or too then decide.

Me, I vote bobber. Sporty's being a lighter less bulky looking bike look great with a racey almost a board track look to them. Make it a blend of street and old time track racer.

This build is working good for me I needed this. I have been building choppers and bobbers for 27 years. I got into muscle cars in my 20s and the pro street stuff. I got into old iron when I was 40 my buddy Brian and my buddy ray where like brothers and where my goto guys when I needed help the both passed away last year. Since there passing I just can't seem to focus or really get into the coupe. Building this bike is really helping me to get my head straight. I always use to jump on my bikes when things got to me and it always helped. After I get the bike done and the weather warms up maybe I can get Neverdone to help me out with the coupe see if I can get something done on it. I think this one will be a bobber. My shovel pan is already a chopper I just have to put it together but I think I will wait till the coupe is done before I start on it.

your build

Having a project to put your spare time into, especially when you are having trying times (whether health or other problems to you or a loved one) is most likely good medicine. I speak from experience I built my rat rod during the worst time of my life. good luck

Thanks dougndog i sold of all the stock parts off the rear of the bike and the fenders got enough to get some parts I needed the risers in the pics are not staying on the bike my new risers should be here today or tomorrow
