As you may or may not know... Monarch butterflies have been having a hard time lately & our state has asked people to grow Milkweed... they'll even send you seeds for free! Milkweed is the only plant Monarch larvae eat & the butterflies will lay their eggs on so... I've been growing milkweed & since the plants are expensive I collect the seeds & propagate my own! I have a green thumb & now have them everywhere & here's one of my latest guests! It's *really* cool to watch them go from caterpillar to butterfly... IMO!

Well, around here you sure don't need a green thumb to get milkweed to grow!

Farmers eradicated most of the milkweed 30 years ago. Used to see a lot monarchs too. They don't spray the ditches like they used too, so some of that stuff is coming back now.
