Well it's been a crazy winter and in the middle of it I decided to build a new toy..I had a motorized bar stool and my brother in law wanted it worse than me so he got it and I got to have more fun....It started out as an old racing kart chassis that I cut up and mated an old wagon to it with a 7 hp. Subaru motor...put everything in a blender and whaaa-laaa....ok not quite that simple but creativity at it's finest...

once I got everything set up for ride height I made a tube chassis for it. I had to shorten the whole cart and narrow it up as well and switch out the sprocket drive and the brake disc from side to side

I had some old wrenches that I picked up at a swap meet as well as some old motorcycle pegs and a few odds and ends that found a new home ...I used the wrenches for foot rest supports and for frame bracing...old headlights just cause they were cool...getting closer to going for a rip

Getting down to the end...still might put the suicide trailer together...not quite sure yet...finished it all up with it's art deco trim and took it for a rip in the dark on the ice...amazingly enough it got traction but was very hard to turn on the ice...kept wanting to do donuts on the street....once it hooks up it flys...can't wait till the snow is gone so it can be really tested....anyway that was one of my many little projects that I had this past winter

Killer machine, and I mean that in a nice way.
My attention was diverted occasionally to the forgotten project in the background. I could help you out by clearing up more space in your shop. I'll haul that old Merc to the dump for you. [ddd[ddd[dr[dr

Looks safer than a motorized bar stool! :D

Ya might want to give that trailer a little more thought. [S

Hmmmm. How 'bout something practical, like wheelie bars that incorporate the "passenger" seat. Two birds, as it were.

The Merc is not forgotten...it's like fine wine...it needs to age a bit before you uncork it...I will get back to it...but I do have another 2dr 49 coupe laying around if your interested

RAT FINK, what really caught my eye was the beautiful chop on that coupe. I have a few shoebox Fords lying around, some of them coupes, but none of them are chopped yet. Probably your other Merc is not chopped yet either, and I believe a nice chop adds a lot of value to a car. About how many hours does it take to do a complete chop on a shoebox?
Don't expect me to be a buyer of your car, because I have many, many projects ahead of me and I believe I'll be slowing down when I get to my 130th birthday.
Keep on tinkering.

I here you on the 130 thing...chopping a shoebox Is a lot similar to a merc...chopping the roof, finishing the body work and doing all the interior garnish mouldings so it's ready to paint would be close to a 100 hrs to complete...I have chopped seven mercs and chopped a shoebox with a carson top...here is a few pics of my old 50 shoebox

Hmm I am intrigued by the 49 Rat Fink, can you PM me some info and pics?

I don't have any pics of the 49...Its out in the country rite now and probably still buried under snow...anyway that being said...it is a real nice body but has no chassis but would require a floor swap for the pans are quite rusty but the body is not???..body is complete with glass and chrome...once the weather warms up and I can get to it I can go and snap some pics if your interested...not really sure what I want for it yet...getting hard to find coupes
