Decided to tackle the Disc brake conversion on the F3 front.
A Speedway kit that apart from the quality of the nuts and bolts is a cheap and simple solution and fits all Ford pick ups from 48-52.
First the bearing adapter is put on then it's a regular caliper and rotor install.

Threw my mock up wheels on the front end so I could do some measuring.
The drop axle, drop spring and smalled wheel gives me a drop of 7"

Pulled the truck into the shop so I can work on it through the rains that will obviously follow the snow.
Loved the bottom radiator brackets.
Looked like an episode of Monster garage with all the bits I pulled out.

Just love the sun,it wakes me up early and gets me out to the shop.
Pulled the front fenders and grill off then dropped the old front axle, springs and wheels.
Put the 'maybe too low' front end in place.

It's a Speedy Bill special axle.
Pulled the box off so I can pull the rear end and replace the cab corner.
The rear spring pack on these trucks are 'Beefy' to say the least.

Need to box the frame for the rear 4 link.
Managed to call in a favour and got the 2 pieces I need already cut to length.
Torched out the shape,a few hours of 'finish' grinding and then a couple of coats of anti rust.

that big pile of parts that came off it make me think of Stacy David on Gearz when he throws old junk across the floor, laughing as he always does. :p

I had trouble carrying most of the scrap parts let alone throwing them:eek:
The springs weighed nearly 200lbs per side and the rear end is over 700lbs.

Need to notch the frame for rear end clearance so had to make a couple of notches.

Started measuring and mocking up the 4 link and panhard.

Took the weekend off from working in the 'Hat' to catch up and get a few things done.
Decided to tackle the frame notch and boxing.
Bent some pipe that I'll weld in behind the boxing so I can route wires and stuff through later.
