oooh, my eyes. Sorry, the chrome reflected off my computer screen. No, Really it looks great. Very clean looking build. Motor looks great too.

Ok ok

I knew the shine would be to much.. I work in a metal recycling place and the parts that come in, are just unbelievable and thats where it came from. I figured I would build it from the scrape that was brought in but soon figured out it would be so much easier just go new. I really argued with myself about how much easier it would be to just go new and the chrome well I'm fond of... It well soon chisil itself away and that may look alright "chrome and rust". Notice in the shop picture it's a little blurred the frame on the rotisserie I thought I was going to use it, the axle laying on the shop floor I was going to use it. No locals will go and supply any info so I'm on my own. I am going to chop the cab.

Plenty of info here. And I am pretty local. Kind of.
The ford 9 inch is a great choice for rear axles.
Lots of chop info here too. I think you are on the right track.

thanx Bonehead

I well be calling on you in the future, waiting till x-mas to pass and I'm picking up set of front wheels & tires. I'm going with old school cragars all the way around, on the front a 26"x ? x15" Mickey Thompson radial should I go 6" or 8" on the front. the back I'm using 15"x14" offset on the back with the 29"x18"x15" or should I go with the 31"x18"x15"....

I never have liked mixing radials and biased tires, so I would stay with one or the other. As far as the tire size, if you go with really big tires, you will need more offset, or a narrow rear to make it look right. I went with bigs and littles and extreme in both respects. But I am sure there is a balance in there somewhere. Also keep in mind the ratio changes as you go to taller tires. I really think the tire combo is kind of a personal choice. But you need to be informed as you make these choices.

tires size ??

No I was going to run radials all the way around a friend of mine has one named GI Joe and he told me to run radials and that the ride would just be alot better.. The Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R radial is what I have my eye on. I think the 6" wide on the front will look fine, but the 31" tall will have alot of side wall showing on the rear but with the 29"will just have a little less but I think it will look ok on 15" wheels, it's just alot of money to spend and find out I dont like it. I do like the wide tire look on the rear it just looks TUFF. Here is a picture of Joe it is a tuff looking little trk.

I like chrome even on a rat. You'll have all the help you need right here on RRR! (unless you need a hand, that gets difficult over the internet ) If I had your job, I'd be divorced. I'd go with the 31" but I like big.

GI Joe needs a 5th wheel on the back.

ive got 29x15x15 MT sportsman sr on 15x10 wheels and 26x6 fronts on 15x4 wheels on my 39 dodge.if i could have gotten a 28" front tire i would have considered going 31 rear, but in the end it worked out better anyway.

Hello skull

Hello skull this was the last run on the dyno for the 355.. I also have a 383 but I think the 383 is to much for the little rat rod and besides I want to cruise down to Rockport Tx in it and visit family.

MO MONEY gone

Well I've just been spending money here lately, but I dont mind.. I found a sweet 37 grill, I got my front wheels 15x4.5 and my back wheels 15x14 but no rear tires yet, I will order them tomorrow 31x18x15 M/T radials, my front tires are M/T Radials 15x6.. I got my motor to the shop. I need to hang the motor an transmission and get the weight on the front spring to set caster. But with the grill and radiator in place, I can set my motor, place the cab and then make my cuts in the frame and come up over my rear axel, then remove two inches from the cab. [cl [;)

I'm running similar sized rears, but with 29" tires at the moment.

Do u have any pictures of that and did u shorten the rear axel, I'm just thinking I went to wide with the 31x ->18<- x15 I'm using a 9" and really want the tires "kind" of past the cab if that makes any sense to keep from getting completely soaked on wet roads I'm goimg to run the wheels of it this summer.. Does anyone have any pictures of this truck, this is the only one I have if so would u share.
