    Frame/crossmember question

After a couple of months of hmm-hawing around, I finally got around to building the crossmember. I think it turned out "Dead Sexy

    Frame/crossmember question

I’m building a 29 model a. For the frame I used 2x4 rectangular tubing 3/16 thick w/ fishplates at the joints, it is quite stout. The engine mounts are welded directly to the frame rails with equally thick universal mounts and gussets. Until now ive never questioned the strength of the frame...

    General C4 transmission questions

I've got 2 questions, one for the professional transmission mechanic and one for the everyday DIY guy. Mechanics: is there some sort of test to see if a transmission is in proper working order? -I thought I'd test it before I attempt to rebuild and keep in mind the car is not running yet DIY...

    Opinions needed

Hey all, Take a look at these picture of my 29. As you can see , the body is in pretty decent shape, but there are a couple of holes where it rusted thru. What is your opinion? Should I fix the holes or just hit the car with a basic flat primer and be done with it. I realize that rust is...

I want to cleanup the appearance of this 351w

Bamamav, Thanks! This answers my questions and more. -Just to clarify, the plug in the intake manifold is technically below or downstream of the carb butterfly, so I could use that for auto trans and the distributor line. -I'll look into getting a spacer for the carb and try to eliminate the...

I want to cleanup the appearance of this 351w

I'm sorry about revisiting a 2 year old post. Here are some pictures. I used different color tape for visual purposes. I'd like to know what I can eliminate and what I cannot. -The yellow goes from the distributor to some type of plug in the back of the intake manifold -the red goes from...

    radiator for a 1929 Model A

I am having a heck of a time finding the best radiator I can for my 1929 Model A, for the best price. I am almost too embarrassed to ask this... How do you feel about this radiator...

    engine position / radiator clearance

Thanks all for the replies. You are right. I was just thinking that I might be able to cheat a little and get the engine dropped in and move on with out the radiator, shell, and fan. but like you said its just best to mock up.

    engine position / radiator clearance

I think this is more of a frame question than an engine question, and I apologize if this Q was asked previously. That being said... How much room would I need minimum between the front cross bar and the furthest part of the engine? (ie. the pulleys). I plan on having a typical 29 ford grill...

    c5 or AoD?

What are your thoughts? [S I figure AoD has that extra gear for cruising, but I hear that the c5 is stronger I have a 351w out of a 77 Lincoln. I figure the AoD should handle it. Also, do either one of these trannys need vacuum lines? I ask because I want to get rid of all the excess vacuum...

I want to cleanup the appearance of this 351w

Hey all, I got a 351w out of a '77 Lincoln, since it is going into a car with no real engine bay I want to clean up the appearance, especially those "dern" vacuum hoses. I read on the internet, (if its on the internet, its got to be true) to just remove all the vacuum hoses and your good to...
